Cajamarca is an important cultural and commercial center of the Northern Andes. It is located in the northern highlands of Peru at an altitude of approximately 2,750 m above sea level in the valley of the Mashcon River.
The climate of the region is subtropical alpine. The rainy season lasts from October to March.
Average daily temperatures vary greatly (from warm during the day to cold at night). January is the warmest month with an average maximum temperature of 22°C and an average minimum of 7°C.
