About the country of growth
Brazil is the world's largest coffee producer. The share of Brazilian coffee on the international market is one third of the world's total production. Arabica is mainly grown in the regions of Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Bahia, Matas de Minas, Prana. An equatorial climate prevails in the north of the country, tropical in the central part, and temperate in the south. The main varieties of Arabica in Brazil are: bourbon, typica, mundo novo, catuay, maragojeep.
About the farm
Ecoagricola is a family business growing and exporting specialty coffee, which has become a pioneer in the new and unique region of Sarra do Cabral. Farmers Marcelo and Roberto see their task in building a business in accordance with the principles of sustainable development, preserving the natural wealth of their land, biomes, springs and waterfalls.
The land has been owned by the family since the 1970s. Historically, they were engaged in the development of forests, but in 2007 they decided to try to grow coffee, and it was the high segment.
Ecoagricola received the “Sustainable Supplier of the Year” award from Illycaffe, among other 500 suppliers of the Italian brand in Brazil. The farm has been a supplier of Illy for 10 years and has received an award for its principles of ethics, business process excellence and sustainable development technology.
The farm is also a member of the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association (BSCA). Ecoagricola coffee is bought by top roasters and importers around the world in containers or microlots. In total, the farm produces both lots of special fermentations and natural, semi-washed and washed processing.
Ecoagricola coffee became three times one of the winners of the Cup of Excellence in the categories of natural and semi-washed processing. The farm also holds the 1st place in the Rainforest Alliance competition (the best certified coffee in Brazil) and the first four places in the Minas Gerais State competition, among many other awards.
