Yunomi Cup from Maria Levina
Handmade by the magnificent ceramist Maria Levina. Her project Maria Levine filled with deep engineering and high aesthetics.
This is a traditional Japanese type of tableware. Everyday glasses for water and green tea were traditionally given to a married couple. They should not be the same, but they should have had something in common - a similar shape, ornament or color.
My yunomi with a spiral, due to this, they lie very pleasantly in the right hand - the thumb is just at the level of the gap between the index and middle finger. Unfortunately for lefties, I haven't done them yet. This form is very difficult to make on a potter's wheel. Much more complicated than ordinary glasses. Porcelain yunomi are very thin and light, I make mostly quite large yunomi from stone masses, they are much heavier.
It is very convenient to drink hot green tea while holding the glass by the cold upper rim.
All the young people are similar to each other, but each of them is unique.
